Old fire hall back up for sale again

Feb 18, 2022 | 3:30 PM

Grande Prairie City Hall says it will try again to sell the former fire hall building downtown.

Council approved having administration make the property marketable and hire a realtor at its meeting on December 13.

Royal LePage has been hired after a Request for Quote process and the property was officially listed on February 9. The appraised value is $1.2 million.

The Community Social Development offices currently in the building will be relocating to the Community Care Campus located in the former Stonebridge Hotel.

Parks and Technical Search and rescue would move to a new Parks building being built in the city’s south side.

A previous attempt to sell the building ended in March of 2018 with that edition of council voting to cancel a Request for Proposals process that had been going on for months.

Two bidders had come forward.

City council said at the time a sale was not in the best interest of the city, citing the cost to accommodate and move staff. This was before the city had the Community Care Campus.
