RCMP searching for man involved in County shooting Monday

Grande Prairie RCMP say they are actively searching for a 37-year-old man in connection with a shooting on Monday that sent another man to hospital.

Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for Andrew Wayne MacPherson.

Mounties describe him as 5’8″ tall, weighing 165 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair.

He is facing charges that include discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking.

RCMP say they got a call just after 12:30 p.m Monday of a 44-year-old man at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound in the back. Police described his injuries as serious but not life-threatening.

The shooting happened at Township Road 714 and Township Road 72.

Police say MacPherson is known to frequent the Grande Prairie area.
