Entries close Monday for Agri-Show’s Youth Livestock Program

Feb 25, 2022 | 6:00 AM

Tuesday is the entry deadline for the Youth Livestock Program at the Foster’s Peace Country Classic Agri-Show.

Coordinator Amber Binks says there are shows for steers, heifers, and sheep.

“This has been going on for years now. Just because of COVID, though, we have been shut down for two years.

“We have brand-new, restored and renovated buildings down at (the) Lewis Hawkes (Pavilion) and the Drysdale Centre, so we really wanted to promote it and get people out to see the new buildings.”

Binks says the new buildings are easier to move people and animals, it’s brighter, and there is less dust.

She adds that so far, 27 animals and 35 kids have been entered.

“Anyone can come. I have a couple kids coming from Dawson Creek and there is another junior cattle showmanship club, and they are coming also.”

Binks says there are several things the kids can win

“We actually have some really great sponsors this year. We have some attire. We have some grooming supplies. We have some showing supplies. We have a photographer out there so you can get your picture done in the winner’s circle.”

The Agri-Show goes March 9 to 12 at Evergreen Park with the Youth Livestock Program set for the last day. Binks says registration starts at 9 a.m., then judging at 9:30. They hope to start the show around 11 a.m.

Binks says anyone who wants to enter can contact here at 780-876-5077.
