The Grande Prairie RCMP is advising the public 37-year-old Andrew Wayne MacPherson has been arrested for his involvement in a shooting in the County of Grande Prairie on Valentine’s Day.

Back on Feb. 14, police responded to a report of a male at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital suffering from what was believed to be a gunshot wound he had taken in the area of Range Road 72 and Township Road 714.

The male suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the gunshot. The suspect and man were known to each other.

An investigation into the shooting followed and led police to attempt to locate and arrest MacPherson.

Police have charged MacPherson with discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Following the arrest, MacPherson was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 2.
