Alberta pulling Russian liquor products off shelves

Feb 27, 2022 | 6:02 PM

EDMONTON, AB– Alberta is joining other provinces around the country in pulling Russian liquor products off shelves as a sign of condemnation for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

According to the province, The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis has been directed not to accept new stock of Russian Made Liquor products, and not to sell any current stock to retailers.

In a statement, premier Kenney said Alberta stands in solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, and the province will support those fighting against tyranny.

” Thank you to AGLC and all of Alberta’s licensed liquor retailers for taking these steps to stand on the side of freedom and democracy. I encourage all Albertans to do what they can to support Ukraine by making a donation or supporting some of the many Ukrainian-Canadian-owned businesses in the province,” Kenney said.

The move to ban Russian liquor products is in addition to the province’s $1-million contribution to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Canada Ukraine Foundation. The groups help coordinate and deliver much-needed humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

Alberta joins B.C, Ontario, Manitoba, and Newfoundland in its decision to ban Russian Liquor.
