County of Grande Prairie dips below 100 active COVID-19 cases

The County of Grande Prairie recorded seven new COVID-19 cases and 46 recoveries for March 3. There are now 99 active cases in the county.

The City of Grande Prairie recorded two new COVID-19 cases and eight recoveries for March 3. There are 110 active cases in the city.

Over the last 24 hours. Alberta added 502 new cases from 2,492 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 20.1 per cent. There are currently 7,646 active cases in the province.

Provincial officials say with the rollout of rapid tests to most households, the actual number of new COVID-19 infections in the province is likely higher than what is being reported.

Active case totals, as of March 3 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 110 active (-6)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 99 active (-46)
  • MD of Greenview: 44 active (-2)
  • Birch Hills County: zero active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 12 active (+5)
  • Saddle Hills County: four active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 118 active (-4)
  • MD of Fairview: 44 active (-8)
  • MD of Smoky River: five active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 75 active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: six active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: eight active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: six active (+1)
  • Mackenzie County: 66 active (-)

The province saw hospitalizations decrease to 1,164 (down 40), while 77 of those patients are in the ICU (down three).

In the North Zone, 136 people are in hospital (same), five of whom are in the ICU (same).

There were eight COVID-19 related deaths reported in the province for March 3, bringing the province’s death toll to 3,954.

So far, 90.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 86.5 per cent of those eligible have received at least two doses.
