Grande Prairie RCMP on scene of collision between vehicle and pedestrian

UPDATE 4:43 p.m.: Grande Prairie RCMP say ATCO is making repairs after a vehicle-pedestrian collision this afternoon led to a gas leak.

Mounties say southbound 100 Street is down to one lane between 100 and 99 Avenues.

Police say the repairs could take several hours.

There is no word on any injuries.

Grande Prairie RCMP along with fire services and emergency medical services are currently on the scene of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police say the collision occurred near 100 street and 100 Avenue in Grande Prairie. As a result of the collision, authorities say there is a gas leak and at this time the roadway is closed and traffic is being diverted.

RCMP are advising motorists to avoid the area and to choose an alternate route while emergency response units deal with the gas leak.

The Grande Prairie RCMP is continuing to investigate.
