MLA Allard to meet with U.S. officials on Alberta’s energy sector

Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard is off to Washington to represent Alberta at the Energy Council Federal Conference.

The Energy Council is an organization of elected legislators from 14 energy-producing states, as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The federal conference runs from March 8-11, which the province says is an opportunity for Allard to develop, renew and strengthen Alberta’s relations with U.S. federal partners.

The province adds that it is an opportunity for Allard to highlight the reliability and safety of Alberta’s energy products, while also promoting the importance of Alberta’s energy sector to North American and global energy security.

Allard is slated to meet with several U-S senators tomorrow, and attend conference sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday where she will discuss the province’s approach to energy development.

“Including regulatory expertise and investment opportunities in carbon capture, utilization and storage, and potential in hydrogen and critical and rare earth minerals,” said the province in a release.

Allard will also spend March 12 as a personal day in Washington. The personal day will be paid for at her own expense. Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.

She will return to Alberta on March 13.
