RCMP arrest and charge wanted man on numerous offences

Valleyview RCMP says a wanted man from Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation has been located and arrested on numerous outstanding warrants.

On March 2, members of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit along with the assistance of Valleyview RCMP located 24-year-old Dorian Anakain Harvey on Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.

Police say Harvey was wanted for 28 offences that had occurred between 2020 and 2022.

The outstanding warrants, mounties say, included previous offences of armed robbery, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and multiple counts of failing to comply with release orders.

At the time of his arrest RCMP say Harvey was found in possession of a loaded firearm.

Harvey is charged with possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, tampering with the serial number of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and four counts of possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to order Careless Use of a Firearm.

Following a judicial hearing, Harvey was remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 16, 2022.
