McLennan Emergency department once again without onsite physician coverage

For the second straight Monday, the Emergency Department (ED) at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in McLennan is without an on-site physician.

The shortage will continue until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning when normal operations will resume.

Patients are still asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency, with those EMS calls being re-routed to surrounding health care centres.

In a release, AHS says nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage and assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate ED’s in the surrounding area.
