Grande Prairie records 19 COVID-19 recoveries, four new cases

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 19 COVID-19 recoveries and four new cases over the last 24 hours. There are 66 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were two new COVID-19 cases and three recoveries identified. There are now 44 active cases in that region.

Alberta added 459 new cases from 1,831 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 25 per cent. There are currently 6,422 active cases in the province.

Provincial officials say with the rollout of rapid tests to most households, the actual number of new COVID-19 infections in the province is likely higher than what is being reported.

Active case totals, as of March 14 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 66 active (-15)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 44 active (-1)
  • MD of Greenview: 23 active (-6)
  • Birch Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 17 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: three active (-1)
  • MD of Peace: 44 active (-8)
  • MD of Fairview: 15 active (-4)
  • MD of Smoky River: 12 active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 62 active (-12)
  • Clear Hills County: four active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: two active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: six active (-1)
  • Mackenzie County: 28 active (-3)

The province saw hospitalizations increase to 1,001 (up 15), with 70 of those patients in the ICU (down three).

In the North Zone, 129 people are in hospital (down five), four of whom are in the ICU (same).

There were four COVID-19 related deaths reported, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in Alberta to 4,025.

So far, 90.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 86.6 per cent of those eligible have received at least two doses.
