UPDATE: The Grande Prairie RCMP says David Pinfield is now in custody. Police were able to recover the RCMP jacket and body armour stolen prior, but adds the 40mm extended range impact weapon is still outstanding. While this is not a lethal weapon, it can cause serious harm if it is deployed in close proximity.

Grande Prairie RCMP are searching for a male suspect wanted in relation to the theft of several vehicles, including a police cruiser.

At around 10:41 p.m. Wednesday night, RCMP located a vehicle in the area of 162 Avenue and 102 Street that had been reported as stolen.

Attempts to stop the vehicle led to it being driven off the road. A female suspect in the vehicle at the time was arrested, but a male suspect fled on foot and drove off in a police cruiser.

The cruiser was eventually recovered, but a number of items were taken from it, including an RCMP patrol jacket and toque, handcuffs, a hard body armour, and a 40 mm extended range impact weapon.

The male suspect, who is still at large and has been identified as 31-year-old David Pinfield of Valleyview, is also alleged to have stolen a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the Spirit River area. It is brown in colour with Alberta licence plate CCB 0087.

Pinfield is described as being 6 feet tall and 210 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin.

He is wanted on outstanding warrants and should be considered armed.

Anyone that knows where this vehicle is are asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP or Crimestoppers.
