Rotary Dream Home ticket sales to benefit Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund

The Grande Prairie Rotary Club has announced it will be donating a portion of dream home ticket sales to their Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund.

The fund will see 20 per cent of the proceeds from dream home tickets sold from now through until April 24 go towards local partners to support Ukrainians in need.

Raffle Manager Melissa Coulombe says with over a month left to purchase tickets for the dream home, it is hard to say how much money they will be able to raise for the fund.

“We are in a position to make a huge difference and we hope the community gets out and gets their tickets and helps towards this relief effort,” she said.

Coulombe tells EverythingGP the dream home fundraiser works to help not only different groups, organizations and causes across the region, but also helps relief efforts when they are needed.

“For example, when COVID-19 first started happening the club had done a rapid relief fundraiser via the Dream Home Lottery at that time where they raised money for local food banks because the need was urgent and immediate, and the club had the ability to support things like that via tickets sold,” she explained.

With the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine, Coulombe says relief efforts are needed in that country.

“When we previously did the rapid relief fund, we were able to raise a few hundred thousand dollars and we would love to do similar and have a few hundred thousand dollars and have a few hundred thousand dollars go towards the relief efforts in Ukraine and help those most impacted.”
