Athletes and coaches celebrated at 2022 Northwest Alberta Sports Excellence Awards

Athletes and coaches were celebrated Friday evening at the TARA Centre as the 2022 Northwest Alberta Sports Excellence Awards.

The annual awards were held in person this year for the first time since 2020.

The following awards were handed out:

Female Athlete of the Year – Sydney Kinderwater – Judo

Male Athlete of the Year – Teron Anderson – Football

Outstanding Official – Amanda Frayn – Swimming

Coach of the Year – Bryan Noel – Football

Unsung Hero – Jodianne Noel – Football

Lifetime Achievement Award – Troy Sandboe – Football

Developmental Coach of the Year – Shane Morin – Football

Team of the Year – Sexsmith Sabres Football Team

Junior Male Athlete of the Year – Nikita Tsryuk – Judo

Sport Builder – Dylan Bressey – Disc golf
