Industry calls for ‘permanent’ supply chain solution in wake of CP Rail work stoppage
CALGARY – Business groups are calling for a ‘permanent’ solution to supply chain problems in Canada in the wake of this week’s temporary work stoppage at Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.
CP Rail employees are back on the job after the union and the company agreed Tuesday to final and binding arbitration to end a 48-hour work stoppage.
But some business leaders say there have been too many disruptions to the Canadian supply chain in recent years.
Fertilizer Canada says since 2019, its members have dealt with strikes at Canadian National Railway Co. and the Port of Montreal, in addition to the most recent labour dispute at CP.
