Grande Prairie records 79 COVID-19 cases over last week

Alberta Health says over the last week Grande Prairie recorded 79 new cases of COVID-19.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 19 new cases confirmed since last Wednesday.

It is not known how many active COVID-19 cases there are in the city or county because of the move to weekly numbers.

The last week saw Alberta add 5,549 new cases following the completion of 21,314 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 26 per cent.

Across the province, hospitalizations over the last week grew by 26 to 990, while the number of patients with COVID-19 in the ICU fell by three to 44.

In the North Zone, 111 people are in hospital, four are in the ICU.

Sadly, there were 30 COVID-19 related deaths reported across Alberta last week, two of those 30 deaths were reported to be in the North Zone. This brings the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 4,104 and 501 in the North Zone.
