M.D. of Greenview signs Memorandum of Understanding with Cerilon GTL to expand GIG developement

The M.D. of Greenview has announced it has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Cerilon GTL to purchase 200 acres of land in the Greenview Industrial Gateway.

The announcement was made during their meeting on April 12.

Cerilon GTL says it intends to construct a $2.8 billion facility on the site to manufacture ultra-low sulfur diesel and jet fuel.

They are proposing to construct a gas to liquids facility capable of producing 24,000 barrels per day to help manufacture clean, environmentally friendly, ultra-low sulfur diesel and specialist products.

The new facility would also capture CO2 and implement carbon capture and sequestration processes, giving the facility the lowest carbon footprint of any GTL facility in the world.

“The Greenview Industrial Corridor is gaining international attention as a location of choice for the energy manufacturing sector,” said Reeve Tyler Olson.

“This agreement is an example of how we can create thousands of jobs and support economic growth in our region while becoming the gold standard for low carbon emission industrial development.”

The planned facility will generate up to 1,600 jobs during construction, with more than 80 permanent positions to follow, plus 200 contractors and providers once operational.

This is the second major investor in the GIG. In late 2021, the MD of Greenview signed an agreement with Northern Petro Chemical Corporation to construct a $2.5 billion Blue Methanol and Blue Ammonia production facility. Construction for that facility is anticipated to start in 2023.
