Rotary Dream Home Lottery hits home stretch as ticket sales close Sunday at midnight

Sunday, April 24th at midnight is the deadline to purchase tickets in this year’s Rotary Dream Home lottery.

Around 78 per cent of tickets have been sold for this year’s lottery, which is slightly behind last year’s pace.

Lottery manager Melissa Coloumbe is hoping for a late rush of ticket sales this weekend so that they can put more money back into the community.

“One-hundred percent of the funds raised – after prizes are paid for and all the bills are paid – the money goes right back into the communities that we live in and it supports multiple groups and organizations and causes. So the more tickets we can push these last few days, the more we will have to help those groups.”

This year, 17 local not-for-profit groups have been helping out with ticket sales, and will each receive a portion of the proceeds.

Coloumbe adds besides buying tickets on the home, you can also purchase tickets for the 50/50 cash jackpot, which currently sits at over $444,000.

“With this being the final weekend, we would love to see it get past that half-a-million-dollar mark. Last year, on the final two days of the lottery, the 50/50 grew over $150,000 in just 48 hours.”

Tickets can be purchased at the dream home – located in Taylor Estates – daily from noon to 9 pm. And Coloumbe is expecting a busy weekend of foot traffic at the home.

“The final Saturday/Sunday will be the two busiest days the home will see all year. In 2021, we never opened at all to the public.”

“So in the beginning of the 2022 lottery, we had quite a few people coming out. They were excited that the home was open again. And now that the weather is being nicer and springtime being here, we will see a good rush over the final couple days.”
