Over $300,000 of relief funding coming to GP public transit
Grande Prairie has been chosen to receive funding through the new Alberta Relief for Shortfalls for Transit Operations program by the provincial and federal governments.
The Alberta government is committing $79.5 million for RESTOR, which is being matched by the federal government.
MLA for Grande Prairie Tracy Allard said in a statement: “Public transit is an essential service which is why it is critical that municipalities get the needed support to provide those services. This funding will go a long way to ensure Grande Prairie residents and their families can get where they need to be and have confidence in their comfort, safety, and the dependability of the service.”
The RESTOR program was created to help communities top-up funds with ridership declining over the past two years with the pandemic.
