Photo exhibit comes to Grande Prairie Public Library

May 6, 2022 | 12:25 PM

A selection of the best photographs by Albert professional photographers will be on display at Teresa Sargent Hall at the Montrose Cultural Centre. A grand opening will take place on Monday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m.

The Best of Alberta Photography Exhibition 2021-22 shows the top images from the Professional Photographers of Canada – Alberta Provincial Juried Image Competition, that were judged in September 2021.

Rural Liason Member for the Alberta Professional Photographers of Canada, Stephen Mah says the images represent some of the best photographers in the province.

“They had submitted their images for competition and these were judged to be among the best of the best.”

“The images selected are, believe it or not, are fairly selective and judged from hundreds of submissions by members (PPOC-Alberta),” Mah noted.

“Some of the images are actually world-class caliber, meaning they went on to compete across Canada and also internationally.”

Mah believes there will be some local talent in the exhibit.

“There are approximately 60 images. It’s free for everybody to go take a look at.”

Photographs of architecture, portraits, concept illustration, fine art, and much more will be displayed at the Grande Prairie Public Library until June 6, 2022.
