Man serving six-year sentence for manslaughter

A man is serving a six-year sentence for manslaughter after the death of another man in April of 2020 in Grande Prairie.

Alberta Justice says Telford Randall Howe was sentenced in December in Grande Prairie court. He had been scheduled to stand trial May 9 to 17.

Howe was arrested after the April 2020 death of 32-year-old Trevor Guillen.

RCMP said at the time that they were called out to the area of 102 Street and 106 Avenue at around midnight on April 25, 2020, to a report on an injured man. He was taken to hospital and later died of his injuries.

Howe was arrested October 22, 2020.

Trial dates set in Peace River murder

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set for a man charged after a murder in Peace River.

A jury trial for Mathew Ian Blachford is set for March 13 to 22, 2023, in Peace River court. Blachford was arrested in January of 2020 and charged with the murder of 37-year-old Jennifer Donovan.

She was found dead near 77 Avenue between 98 and 99 Streets in Peace River.

RCMP had been called to the scene just before 2 a.m. on October 8, 2020.

Mounties say an autopsy determined that her death was a homicide but did not release any details on how she died.

Charges withdrawn after pair of Central Peace weapons, steroid seizures

All changes have been withdrawn against an Edmonton man charged after a pair of RCMP searches led to the seizure of weapons and steroids.

Alberta Justice says all charges against Shane Edward Craig were withdrawn in January. He had preliminary hearing dates set for May 10 and 18.

Craig had been facing a dozen charges after two incidents in 2021.

On May 18 last year, Spirit River RCMP were called out to a vehicle stuck in a remote area of Saddle Hills County.

A loaded shotgun, a sawed-off rifle, ammunition, pills and $21,000 cash were all seized.

On June 21, Mounties did another search at a motel room in Rycroft.

Cocaine, steroids, cash and a vehicle were all seized.

Last accused in forged documents case sentenced

Alberta Justice says the final person facing charges in a case involving forged documents has been sentenced.

Dillan Redekopp was given a 90-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to four charges April 19 in Grande Prairie court.

Those charges included making or possessing identity documents, possession of a forged document, printing a banknote and failure to comply with a release order.

Redekopp and three other people were charged after a search at a Westpointe home on November 15, 2020, resulted in the seizure of fake documents that included firearm possession and acquisition license cards, cheques, identification cards, phoney cheques and fake credit and debit cards.

Another accused, Kevin Stolth, was given a 240-day jail sentence in January, minus 175 days credit for time already spent in custody. Another man, Jason Weatherall was given a $300 fine while all charges against the other person charged, Sarah Hart, were withdrawn.
