Seventy-three provincial highway construction projects happening in the Peace Region

May 27, 2022 | 12:43 PM

Construction season is well underway around Alberta, with the province using $1.4 billion dollars for 300 capital and highway improvements.

Around 12,000 Albertans will be employed for these projects in 2022.

Transportation Minister Rajan Sawhney reiterated an old joke about construction season in a news conference saying: “There are two seasons in Alberta, can anybody guess what they are? The winter season and of course construction season.”

A number of major capital projects are set to be completed this year, including the Peace River bridge deck replacement project this fall.
