100th Street and 84th Avenue Construction

May 31, 2022 | 11:46 AM

The City of Grande Prairie announced two road development plans set to start in the coming days.

The first is to begin on June 1st at 84th avenue between 100 street and Resources road, the second is 100th Avenue between 98 Street and Landing Drive on June 2.

On 84th avenue the city plans to operate in two phases. The first is to replace and upgrade the roadway as well as replace curbs, gutters, storm drains, and manhole structures.

The second phase plans on adding some new things in the area such as a new catch basin in the park space and a bus pad on the northside of 84th avenue, and a smart right turn lane at the east to southbound turn on 84th Avenue and Resources Road.

Roads will be closed on 84th Avenue between 100 Street and Patterson drive starting June 1st. Then roads will be closed at 84th Avenue between Patterson Drive to Resources Road during the second phase.

On 100th Avenue work will consist of replacing existing road surfaces, expanding sidewalks, minor repairs to storm sewer infrastructure, and repainting road markings and crosswalks.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane and speeds will be reduced to 30km/h.

Crews are expected to work Monday to Saturday at both sites, pending the weather, and should be finished by mid-July.
