Seeding moving along quickly in the Peace

Seeding has been moving along quickly in the Peace with the warm weather.

The May 31 report says just over 79 per cent of seeding is complete.

Completion stood at 36.6 per cent the week before and 2.5 per cent the week before that.

More than 93 per cent of dry peas, over 81 per cent of spring wheat, 77.5 per cent of canola, 71.5 per cent of barley, and 64.9 per cent of oats had been planted as of May 31.

The report also says crop emergence was at 15 per cent as of that date.

Just under 31 per cent of the soil moisture conditions are rated excellent, 62.5 per cent good, and 6.7 per cent fair.

83 per cent of the pasture and 82 per cent of the tame hay are rated fair to good.
