Arrest made for series of stabbings in Slave Lake

The Alberta Major Crimes Unit is continuing their investigation in multiple stabbings that happened in Slave Lake on June 5, 2022.

RCMP have identified the homicide victim as a 49-year-old man from Wabasca.

Officers have arrested 25-year-old Evan Dacey Alook in relation to one of the non-fatal stabbings that took place.

Alook has been charged with attempted murder and has been remanded into custody pending further court appearances.

He remains a suspect for the homicide of the Wabasca man and the Major Crimes Unit is still investigating the circumstances of the incident.

June 6, 2022: RCMP in Slave Lake are investigating a murder.

Mounties say they were called out to a report of a possible stabbing in the southwest part of the community just after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say they found a 22-year-old man with what they call multiple injuries and subsequently found another person, a 28-year-old man with injuries during patrols. Both were taken to hospital.

All this was followed by a search during which a third man was found deceased.

No other details have been released and the Alberta Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
