ASIRT investigating arrest in Spirit River

On Saturday, June 11, RCMP responded to a break and enter call in Spirit River, which is now being investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team.

The Spirit River RCMP responded to a break and enter around 4:30 p.m. in a rural location.

Officers made two arrests, one suspect was injured during the arrest and had to be taken to the hospital.

ASIRT has been advised to investigate after a result of a regular internal review into the arrest.

The Alberta RCMP says they believe in processes that seek facts and it’s important that processes are taken to assess the actions of all those involved including police; that they’re fair, transparent, and defendable.
