Former mayor Lekstrom retiring as CAO of Dawson Creek

Jun 16, 2022 | 11:04 AM

The city of Dawson Creek will soon begin the search for a new Chief Administrative Officer.

Blair Lekstrom has announced he will be retiring from the position at the end of the calendar year.

His retirement brings to an end a long association with the city.

Lekstrom was elected as a city councillor in 1993, and eventually served as the Mayor of Dawson Creek from 1996 to 2001.

He would step aside from the city office to serve three terms as MLA for Peace River South from 2001 to 2013, but returned to the council chambers after the 2018 municipal election, serving two years as councillor before taking on the CAO position.

Current Mayor Dale Bumstead thanked Lekstrom for his service to the city, and his efforts and passion for making Dawson Creek the best that it can be.
