No overnight physician coverage at Spirit River Hospital this weekend

The Central Peace Health Complex emergency department will be without a doctor overnight this weekend.

However, a physician will be in the emergency department from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with normal coverage resuming on Monday.

Nursing staff will remain on-site at the emergency department to perform assessments and triage.

Patients requiring urgent care are still asked to call 9-1-1, calls will be rerouted to surrounding area hospitals in Fairview, Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge or Valleyview.

Depending on their needs, residents seeking assistance at the Spirit River emergency department should be aware of services offered through local pharmacies.

This marks the third time this month that the Central Peace Health Complex emergency department will be without a physician for a period of time.
