Sentencing date set in woman’s death

Alberta Justice says a sentencing date has been set for the man charged after a woman reported missing in Wabasca was later dead in Manitoba.

Grant Arthur Sneesby will be sentenced on charges of manslaughter and interfering with a dead body on September 22 and 23 in Peace River court.

The Gladstone, Manitoba man had been charged with murder in connection with the death of Gloria Gladue.

Gladue was reported missing by her family after last being seen in Wabasca in October of 2015.

Gladue’s body was found in rural Manitoba in June of 2016.

Sneesby was arrested in Edmonton in June of 2018.

Trial dates set in Fort Vermilion murder case

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set in Fort Vermilion murder case.

The trial for Sandra Waposse is set for May 1 to 5, 2023 in Peace River court.

The John D’or Prairie woman was charged after the 2019 death of 57-year-old Barry Lizotte.

RCMP said at the time that they were called to a Fort Vermilion home on October 17, 2019, at around 10:30 pm where they found a man dead.

Stay of proceedings in drug arrest

Alberta Justice a stay of proceedings is now in place in a Grande Prairie drug arrest.

The stay in the case against Gibrill Bakal was put in place on June 14 in Grande Prairie court.

He was facing 13 charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing a peace officer, and several weapons counts after an arrest on February 29, 2020.

RCMP said at the time that they stopped a vehicle around 10:30 that night because it did not have its headlights on.

Police seized 70 grams of cocaine, a loaded handgun, cell phones, and $1000 cash.

The case can resume if new evidence is found within a year.
