Grande Prairie RCMP CRU makes arrest after traffic stop

Jun 20, 2022 | 12:41 PM

On Thursday, June 16 at around 7:00 p.m., the Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit was driving around doing proactive patrols when they conducted a vehicle stop near 92 Street and 68 Avenue.

As a result of the stop, officers initiated a drug investigation and arrested the driver for possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.

Police discovered and seized:

  • 2 cell phones
  • $1,015.00 in Canadian currency
  • 33 dime bags with 28.5 grams of cocaine

The search led to the arrest of 38-year-old Brian Williams of Edmonton.

Following a judicial hearing, Williams was released on conditions and is set to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 20, 2022.

Grande Prairie RCMP says they continue to have crime reduction as a policing priority with proactive enforcement to create a safer community and demonstrate their commitment to Alberta’s Crime Reduction strategy.
