The official unveiling of the Traditional Healing Garden on National Indigenous Peoples Day
The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is unveiling the long-awaited Traditional Healing Garden on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Funded by the “Commemorating the History & Legacy of Residential Schools” fund and Community Foundations community impact grant; the garden will have multiple uses. It will be used as a place of healing, an education centre, and to begin a sustainable food program.
The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre Executive Director Miranda Laroche said in a release that this creates a small path forward in our community towards reconciliation and healing.
”The Traditional Healing Garden will house programs alongside commemorative events to revitalize traditional knowledge systems, provide skill-building, and host community healing events,” she said
