YMCA of Northern Alberta to receive provincial funding

Jun 27, 2022 | 11:11 AM

Through the Youth Suicide Prevention Grant Program, the Alberta government will be funding 13 youth-focused community programs in Alberta.

One of those 13 organizations is the YMCA of Northern Alberta.

Over the next two years, $3 million will be broken into grants ranging from $100,00 to $300,000.

MLA for Grande Prairie Tracy Allard said in a news release; “the YMCA has given countless children and teens the chance to develop creativity, build resilience, and learn new skills. In times like these, investment in support of our youth becomes even more critical.”

This funding will help dedicated professionals provide life-saving suicide prevention and mental health support to youth in northern Alberta.

In 2019, the Alberta Government launched the Building Strength, Inspiring Hope: a Provincial Action Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention; created to help advance the outcome laid out in the action plan.
