CALGARY – The $4.3-billion Heartland Petrochemical Complex northeast of Edmonton has produced its first plastic pellets.
Facility owner Inter Pipeline Ltd. says the test production is an important step on the way to full commercial operation this fall.
The Heartland Petrochemical Complex will use propane to make 525,000 tonnes per year of polypropylene beads.
Polypropylene is an easily transported form of plastic that is used to make many products.
