Tamara Lich set to appear for bail hearing in Ottawa court
OTTAWA, ON – Medicine Hat’s Tamara Lich is to appear in an Ottawa court today for a bail hearing after being arrested last week for allegedly breaching one of her bail conditions.
Lich was one of the leading voices of the so-called “Freedom Convoy” to Ottawa in January that became a three-week occupation. She was arrested last week by Medicine Hat police on a Canada-wide warrant requested by the Ottawa Police Service.
Lich appeared in court over video Thursday afternoon and saw her case put over until today. Eric Granger, one of Lich’s criminal defence lawyers, told CHAT News last week the warrant stems from an alleged breach of a non-communication condition.
She was arrested in Ottawa in February and charged with mischief, obstructing police, counselling others to commit mischief and intimidation. Lich was released on bail subject to strict conditions, including not communicating with other organizers of the “Freedom Convoy.”
