The Northern Twistmaster Armwrestling Club had an impressive showing over the Long Weekend

The Northern Twistmasters Armwrestling Club had a decorated long weekend as they sent nine competitors to Nationals.

Seven members of the club placed on the podium.

Gary Macdonald secured another visit to the World Championships winning gold in 176lb Grand Master Left and second in the Right.

Defending National Champion Joe Fox won Gold in the Senior Men’s 225LB Right arm.

Brian and Mattew Marginet Father and Son duo put on a show, with Matthew making the podium in his first-ever trip to Nationals getting second in Youth boys 15 to 18 70kg class.

Dad, Brian Marginet wrestled in his first Nationals in a decade and had one of the toughest matches of the tournament which led to his arm burning out, keeping him off the podium.

Big Marc Guay (Guy) brought his three kids with all three getting on the podium.

10-year-old Janelle earned gold with both arms in the 50kg youth class, then jumped up to 60kg to get silver.

8-year-old Micah wrestled in 40kg class getting gold with his Right and bronze with his Left.

5-year-old Young Mack entered the 25kg and made the podium with two bronze medals.

Coach and Dad Marc Guay said in a release he’s a very proud papa.

Five competitors from the Northern Twistmaster Armwrestling Club earned a spot on Team Canada for the World Championships this year with top-two finishes.

Those five are:

  • Matthew Marginet
  • Janelle Guay
  • Micah Guay
