Peace Country Cowboys host the Fort McMurray Monarchs at CKC Field Saturday

The Peace Country Cowboys Senior Men’s Football Program is gearing up to face the Fort McMurray Monarchs on Saturday, July 9 at CKC Field.

Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 for individuals, $10 for families, and children six and under get in free.

The team will be trying to get their first win since the club started against a two-and-one Fort McMurray club.

Dusty Sage, President of the Peace Country Cowboys Senior Men’s Football Program says even though the team has been off to a rough start, they play hard.

“So our record is 0 and 3, it being our inaugural year in the AFL we do have a few growing pains were working on. But I can definitely reassure all of Grande Prairie and area that we are well respected and well-received across the province.”

Sage says they are always looking for new players to join and will soon begin the process of recruiting.

“We’re really proud that most of our men are homegrown in Grande Prairie, and there’s so much talent throughout Grande Prairie and area that were just really excited to try and grow our program more from the perspective of getting local guys playing for us.”

Sage noted they’re looking into recruiting potentially through the Okanagan Sun.
