Cash and Camping lottery asking for help to reach goal with sales down this year

Jul 14, 2022 | 4:05 PM

Less than two weeks remain in the Cash and Camping lottery and ticket sales have seen a significant decline.

It provides funds to regional non-profit groups and may not be able to present cheques to the groups if sales do not see an uptick in the final days.

Lottery Chair for the Swan City Rotary Club Pam Nordin says they aren’t sure what has been affecting sales.

“I don’t think it’s one thing, I think it’s a combination. But generally, with less than two weeks left in our lottery, we find ourselves behind in sales to the point where we are at risk of not being able to pay out our partner groups… which is the whole purpose behind this.”

Nordin says buying a ticket is a “win-win”.

“You could win a prize but you’re also helping a lot of really important non-profit groups in this community and across the region.”

Eleven groups will be benefiting from this year’s lottery.

In a media release, the campaign says it needs to see another $175,000 in ticket sales to be able to cover expenses and pay out the non-profit groups.

“We need your help and I do know that the Peace Region and Grande Prairie area always comes through for the not-for-profit sector and we are hoping that happens again,” Nordin says.

Tickets can be bought in person at the sales trailer in the Great Northern Casino parking lot, online, or over the phone by calling 780-532-0506 or toll-free at 1-888-217-1888.

The deadline is July 26 and the final draw is August 3.
