Fire advisories now in place
There are now fire advisories in place for the Grande Prairie, Peace River, and Slave Lake Forest Areas.
The warm, dry weather means the wildfire danger rating is now high in the Grande Prairie and Peace River areas, very high around Slave Lake.
In the Grande Prairie and Peace River Forest Area, the advisory means that current permits remain valid and that new permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Safe wood campfires are still allowed but any burning without a permit is prohibited.
For the Slave Lake area, fireworks or burning things like wood piles is prohibited. New permits are issued on a site-by-site basis after inspection. Forest officers may still allow the burning of larger fuels. Safe campfires are still allowed.
