Hugh Sinclair given Pioneers of Rodeo award by Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede has given one of its Pioneers of Rodeo awards to retired Grande Prairie chuckwagon driver Hugh Sinclair.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association says on its website that Sinclair was one of three recipients announced on Sunday. The others are bull rider Dale Johansen and tie-down roper Dean Oliver.

Sinclair won four Rangeland Derby titles from 2000 to 2008. Before that, he was an outrider for Dave Lewis when he won Stampede in 1988 and 1990.

The WPCA adds Sinclair is still the only wagon driver to be undefeated after racing in two or more Rangeland Derby finals.
