REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders cancelled their practice Wednesday after six additional players tested positive for COVID-19.

The team said in a release it has 10 players in various stages of COVID protocol.

The Roughriders are scheduled to host the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.

The team said no decision has been made on whether the game or practices later this week will go forward.

The Roughriders announced Monday that “several members” of the team tested positive for the novel coronavirus after the team’s 30-24 loss to Toronto in the Touchdown Atlantic game last weekend in Halifax.

The team said at the time that it had planned to resume on-field activities by Wednesday.

The CFL has not had to postpone a game yet this season due to COVID-19.

An outbreak on the Edmonton Elks during the shortened 2021 season led to the postponement of a game against Toronto.

The 2020 CFL season was cancelled because of the global pandemic.
