Walker, Team Gushue to represent Canada at new curling event

Jul 20, 2022 | 3:26 PM

Beaverlodge’s Geoff Walker and his teammates on the Brad Gushue rink will be playing in a brand-new event this fall.

Team Gushue and Team Kerri Einarson have been picked as Canada’s representatives at the first-ever Pan Continental Curling Championships.

It will take place from October 30 to November 5 in Calgary.

Canada is among eight countries in the A Division on the men’s side and nine on the women’s. The World Curling Federation says more on the B Division will be announced later.

Curling Canada says in a release that this event will decide five countries, but not the actual teams, from the Americas and Asia-Pacific zones that will qualify for the 2023 World Men’s and Women’s Championships.

The European Championships will decide the other seven teams for the world championships.
