FIRE ADVISORY

County fire service issues fire advisory

Jul 27, 2022 | 11:34 AM

The hot, dry conditions that we have experienced in recent days, and are expecting to see for the remainder of this week, have led the County of Grande Prairie’s Regional Fire Service to issue a fire advisory.

The advisory is in effect for the entire County, including the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley.

Residents with existing fire permits are advised not to burn until the area gets some form of precipitation.

If you absolutely need to burn, the County asks you to strictly follow guidelines and safe burning practices, including always remaining on site until burning is complete.

Burning is prohibited when the wind gets over 12 km an hour.

Even if the wind does allow you to burn, you must have heavy equipment and a sufficient water supply on-site.
