Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta’s student award deadline is August 15th
Thirty different student awards, worth a combined $40,000, are available for northwestern Alberta students to use to help pay for post-secondary education this fall.
The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta created the awards to connect their donors with students that want to pursue post-secondary education in their field.
Foundation CEO Laura LaValley says this area of the province is diverse, and what works for some, may not work for most. That is why they have made the fund more inclusive, allowing students of all ages, including mature students, to apply for a wide range of awards.
“We have over 30 different awards, so there’s such a huge variety that I would say there’s not really one that is common, but there are lots of awards to take into account, community volunteerism, athletism, public service that sort of thing. So really just that wide variety and it’s not all based on academic performance.”
