Head-on crash north of Wembley claims one life

One person is dead after a collision north of Wembley Monday night.

Beaverlodge RCMP says the crash took place at around 7:30 on Highway 724 near Township road 724.

They say it appears a northbound truck was trying to pass a semi, which was also going northbound, when it rear-ended the semi.

That caused the pickup to spin out into the southbound lane, where it was then hit by a southbound semi.

The 32-year-old male driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.
