Rycroft Rage repeat as Wheatbelt Baseball League champions

Aug 9, 2022 | 10:10 AM

The Rycroft Rage have claimed their seventh Wheatbelt Baseball League championship in team history.

The Rage picked up two wins in Peace River on Monday night to complete a three-game sweep of the Stampeders.

The two teams began the night by finishing off game two, which was suspended after eight innings on Friday night due to darkness.

Jayce Reum’s three-run home run capped a five-run ninth inning to give the Rage a 15-10 win, and a 2-0 series lead.

The two clubs then took to the field again for game three, and in that one the Rage blew the game open with three runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth, en route to a 12-4 win to complete the three-game sweep.

Khalin Marsolais picked up the win on the mound for the Rage, allowing four runs and eight hits while striking out five over five innings of work.

Justin Olson took the loss for the Stampeders, giving up 10 runs and 10 hits over 4 and one third innings of work.

It is the second straight league title for the Rage and their fifth in the last eight years.
