Cycling silver for Lawson at Canada Summer Games

Grande Prairie’s Mairen Lawson took the silver medal Tuesday in the women’s road cycling individual time trial at the Canada Summer Games.

The @GoTeamAB Twitter page says this is Alberta’s first medal of Week 2.

Athletes from Ontario and Quebec finished first and third respectively.

Alberta’s men’s softball team opened with a 7-0 loss to Manitoba before dropping a 5-4 decision to Quebec. They will play Saskatchewan and New Brunswick Wednesday. Owen Cox, Josh Kinnee, and Aaron Charchuk from the Peace are with Team Alberta.
