Traffic Delay

Geotechnical drilling on 116 Avenue

Starting Tuesday, August 16, geotechnical drilling will be taking place along 116 Avenue from 100 Street to Bear Creek Bridges.

The work is being done to confirm asphalt and gravel thickness as well as to explore soil type and properties.

The roadway and bridges will remain open while work is taking place, but with alternating one-lane traffic as it progresses. Traffic is being reduced from two lanes to one when passing by workers.

Posted speed limits will be 30 km/h in the construction area and driver are asked to drive with caution and watch their surroundings for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.

The City of Grande Prairie says the work is expected to be wrapped up by Saturday, August 20, if weather permits.
