Drugs and weapons seized following search warrant on Horse Lake First Nation

On August 18, 2022, Beaverlodge RCMP executed a search warrant on a property at Horse Lake First Nation that they suspected to be trafficking drugs.

Mounties received the search warrant after a lengthy investigation that began in September 2021.

RCMP seized the following:

Approximately 426 grams of suspected cocaine and cutting agents
42.5 grams of suspected powder fentanyl
42 illicit prescription pills and 16 fentanyl tablets
Scales, packaging materials, and score sheet
Cell phones
Brass knuckles, a throwing star, and other bladed weapons
Handguns (one loaded), cross-bows, rifles, and ammunition
Body armor carrier

47-year-old Linda Wanihadie, of Horse Lake First Nation, was charged with 16 offenses:

Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
Two counts of unsafe storage of firearms
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
Three counts of possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
Four counts of unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon/restricted weapon

Following a judicial hearing, Wanihadie was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Grande Prairie Provincial Court on August 29.
