Drugs and weapons seized following search warrant on Horse Lake First Nation

On August 18, 2022, Beaverlodge RCMP executed a search warrant on a property at Horse Lake First Nation that they suspected to be trafficking drugs.

Mounties received the search warrant after a lengthy investigation that began in September 2021.

RCMP seized the following:

  • Approximately 426 grams of suspected cocaine and cutting agents
  • 42.5 grams of suspected powder fentanyl
  • 42 illicit prescription pills and 16 fentanyl tablets
  • Scales, packaging materials, and score sheet
  • Cell phones
  • Brass knuckles, a throwing star, and other bladed weapons
  • Handguns (one loaded), cross-bows, rifles, and ammunition
  • Body armor carrier

47-year-old Linda Wanihadie, of Horse Lake First Nation, was charged with 16 offenses:

  • Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
  • Two counts of unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Three counts of possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Four counts of unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon/restricted weapon

Following a judicial hearing, Wanihadie was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Grande Prairie Provincial Court on August 29.
