Neighbor Day celebrations underway in Grande Prairie

Sep 6, 2022 | 1:01 PM

Neighbor Day is being celebrated by the City of Grande Prairie this year, with free activities for kids to take part in at the Activity Reception Centre.

The event will run on Saturday, September 17 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., consisting of a wide range of activities for kids to explore.

Sports to partake in are:

  • Access to the skate park
  • Basketball
  • Pickleball
  • Badminton
  • Rock climbing

Staff members from the City will also be there to help kids with the sports and distribute free cake and City of Grande Prairie swag.

The City encourages residents to do the same on Neighbour Day, by hosting their own celebrations, throwing a barbecue or picnic, a driveway or sidewalk art competition, or even just inviting a neighbor over for coffee.

The City is already having a scavenger hunt leading up to Neighbor Day, through the Goose Chase app.

Participants can indicate which neighborhood they live in, and when the contest closes on Sunday, September 11, the top three neighborhoods win a prize.
