‘One Man Art Show’ by local renowned wildlife artist at TARA Centre

Sep 15, 2022 | 2:58 PM

The TARA Centre in Evergreen Park, will be host on Saturday, September 17, to the ‘One Man Art Show’ by a local artist.

Desmond McCaffery says his work has changed and evolved so much over the years, that he’s ready to start showing it off.

“This is my first show I’ve had in over fifteen years and I was going to probably do this a couple of years ago, but when everything hit there I didn’t get the chance to do any public appearances or anything, so I’m pretty primed to do this here.”

“I got a lot of new work that I’ve put together over the last couple of years.”

He says his main focus over the last decade was his own online art gallery, but wants to grow his business and passion by sharing his art with his supporters, face to face.

” I do this as a full-time living and I have been doing it for 33 years. The selling end of it is definitely something that keeps the studio going here, it’s definitely a show and sale, everything I will have at the show is for sale, other than the painting of my granddaughter.”

There will be seven high-end originals available at the show, including calendars and other unique pieces available for purchase.

McCaffery says he wanted to have the first show in Grande Prairie as this is where his main supporters are and base of operations.

After not doing a show in over a decade, he believes the ‘home field’ advantage will help him iron out any wrinkles that may come his way.

“This is my home base, I’ve been here for many, many years and I’ve got a really good base here of collectors, so I thought to kick everything off… this was the most logical thing to do, just to get everything ready and ‘prime the pump’ I thought Grande Prairie was perfect.”

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 17, in the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park.
